There’s a company that sends out a monthly box of beauty product samples called Birch Box I’ve been subscribing to for a while. For about $10 a month I get to try these fun, generously sized samples each month. It’s a cheap thrill, the arrival of a little brown cardboard box adorned in pink tissue set in a pink mailer makes me downright giddy. I’ve gotten mini nail polishes, nearly full sized eyeliner and lipsticks, and generously sized samples of sunscreen and foundation – low toxin brands included.
It’s exciting to open it up not knowing what will be inside, and that little jolt of excitement is for a very low cost! Sure, the items might now always be what I want, but for $10 I’m in. There is a customization option for “natural” products that you can select online. I’ve added “wellness-related items” to my profile along with “organic and natural products.”
I might have to dock a few environmental points for getting this in the mail (transportation and packaging), and excess items that I may end up throwing out. So far I’ve used everything so I don’t see this as a problem. In the interest of experimentation and researching these sample products toxic loads I think it is a worthwhile consumption.
Here’s the link if you’re interested – full disclosure I get referral points if you sign up. But this one’s worth it!
